ace Station Shares Spectacular Night-Time Shots of Earth International Space Station (ISS) has shared some spectacular photos of the Earth, captured by the astronauts stationed on it. In a new Instagram post, the ISS shared four different photos of “the Earth's colours” — capturing our home planet “from the city lights to the hues of an orbital sunrise.” It also added “how vivid our planet is when pictured from the space station.” So, what are the amazing sights in the newest set of photos from the space station? The  first image  is of Mauritius and Réunion Island on the Indian Ocean at night, with the glittering lights marking their boundaries in the dark sea. Buildup to super blood moon eclipses the finale

Image
WELLINGTON, New Zealand — In the end, the buildup seemed to eclipse the finale. People across New Zealand and around the world stayed up Wednesday to watch a cosmic event called a super blood moon, a combination of a total lunar eclipse and a brighter-than-usual supermoon. During the buildup, a glittering moon rose above the horizon. As the Earth’s shadow began taking bites from the moon, it created a dramatic effect. Half the moon vanished, leaving it looking like a black-and-white cookie. When the full eclipse took hold, however, the moon darkened, turning a smudgy burnt orange color for many viewers. In celestial terms, it was a wonder: a projection of the world’s sunsets and sunrises onto the black canvas of the eclipsed moon. But for people peering up from their backyards, it wasn’t quite the brilliant display they had anticipated. Not quite super or blood-colored. “It was not that vivid for those on ground,” said Ben Noll, a meteorologist with New Zealand scientific researc...

Elon Musk's SpaceX could monopolise space, feel competitors

Image
Of more than 9,000 satellites sent into orbit since 1957, SpaceX has already deployed 1,677 satellites for Starlink, which means that today, of all satellites in operation, 35% belong to one man -- Elon Musk. The launching of thousands of satellites into low Earth orbit by tech billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX threatens the "de-facto monopolisation" of space, the head of competitor Arianespace Stephane Israel has warned. Elon Musk's Starlink constellation project recently received authorisation from US regulator the Federal Communications Commission to provide broadband from space and place thousands of satellites lower than previously proposed, angering competitors including Amazon. SpaceX, which asked the FCC for permission which is going to apply to some 2,800 satellites, plans ultimately to blanket poorly connected and isolated areas of the globe with internet connectivity. But rivals claim the lower altitude could increase the risk of space collisions and heighte...

Redmi Note 10 Pro gets a higher DXOMark rating than iPhone SE, iPhone XR

Image
A recent DXOMark test has revealed that the camera setup on the Redmi Note 10 Pro is better than many costlier devices by other firms. HIGHLIGHTS Redmi Note 10 Pro has received a DXOMark rating of 106 for its camera setup. The smartphone was hailed for its detailed close-up portraits, accurate depth estimation. It beat several prominent phones, including the iPhone SE and iPhone XR, in the test rating. Advancements in smartphone technologies have enabled OEMs to equip their devices with much more capabilities than was previously thought. Will India ban WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram ,Twitter from May 26? Unlikely, but it is complicated

Image
HIGHLIGHTS So far, most big tech companies have not yet complied with the new It rules. If tech companies do not follow the new rules they will lose the protection that “intermediaries” get in the IT Act. In the long term, the rules may make services like Twitter and WhatsApp less private, giving users less anonymity. Three months ago, after a sort of dare from Twitter, the Central government quickly came out with a fresh set of IT rules. These rules are wide, giving the government incredible power over any company that deals in information and the content within India. Almost all internet companies, whether they are social media networks, messaging services, news organisations or even streaming services like Netflix, all have to follow the new rules. The deadline to do so, that is to comply with the new rules, expires tonight. In other words, one more day and it means a big headache ahead for companies like Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. However, first the big question: Wi...
